Incident: Fatal Overdose Arrest
Name: Eric R. Bouaphakeo
Charges: Possession of CDS & Distribution of CDS

On January 8th, 2019, members of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Enforcement Team responded to an address in Berlin, Maryland in reference to an apparent fatal drug overdose of a 20-year-old male. During the course of this investigation, Investigators were able to identify the victims source of supply of heroin utilizing various investigative techniques, as Eric R. Bouaphakeo. On January 11th, 2019, as a result of this investigation, members of the Criminal Enforcement Team located Eric R. Bouaphakeo, Age 21 of Berlin, Maryland, at which time he was taken into custody. Eric Bouaphakeo was charged with possession of heroin and distribution of heroin. As a result of Eric Bouaphakeo’s initial appearance before the District Court Commissioner, Bouaphakeo was committed to the Worcester County Jail and held without bond.

The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office is committed to holding those responsible for distributing controlled dangerous substances in our communities. The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office would also like to remind people that under the Good Samaritan Law, effective October 1st, 2015, individuals that call 911 during an overdose crisis, those individuals and/or victim are immune from prosecution and arrest for possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and providing alcohol to minors.
