Brian attended college and earned his bachelor’s degree at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, majoring in criminology with a minor in abnormal psychology, laying the foundation for his impressive career.  He began policing in Worcester County in 1988 at the Ocean City Police Department.  He attended the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy where he graduated as his class valedictorian, and was recognized for excellence in fitness.  Throughout his many years of dedicated service to the Town of Ocean City, he held various pivotal operational and administrative roles.

His early tenure included serving as a Field Training Officer, a crash investigator and the Traffic Safety Unit supervisor for many years in the police department’s Patrol Division, and he served as both a member and supervisor of the department’s Honor Guard for over a decade.  His last supervisory assignment before promotion to a command-level role was as the department’s Training Coordinator.

During his tenure as a Lieutenant, he fulfilled various roles within the police department.  He served as a Patrol Division Shift Commander, overseeing daily operations and police response to calls for service, and also took on responsibilities as the department’s Special Events Coordinator.  Additionally, he managed the Field Training Officer Program and served as the Commander of Human Resources, where he played a pivotal role in recruitment and training of personnel.  Finally, he led the department's Office of Professional Standards, ensuring adherence to the highest ethical standards, fostering accountability, and promoting professionalism throughout the agency.

Brian's commitment to excellence led to his selection to attend the prestigious FBI National Academy (FBINA) command leadership program in 2011, where he gained invaluable skills and knowledge to further enhance his career in law enforcement.  His course of study at the FBINA was focused on both constitutional law and employment law.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Brian is an enthusiastic runner and cyclist; he has been married for 26 years and has raised three children.  Brian's career has significantly influenced his eldest two children, both of whom have chosen paths in public service. His daughter serves Worcester County as a Firefighter/EMT, while his son proudly serves aboard the USS George Washington aircraft carrier as an Airman in the United States Navy.  Brian’s youngest son aspires to become a pilot in the United States Air Force.

Brian's dedication to his career and family underscores his strong work ethic and a deep commitment to public service, contributing to the safety of Worcester County and its residents.
