Worcester County Sheriff's Office

Proud to Protect, Ready to Serve

Press Release

Folks, we have an extremely busy week coming up. As you are aware, we have a potential major weather event that will be impacting the Eastern Region of the United States by the weekend. Tomorrow, we will begin monitoring the potential for storm impacts for our area with our Emergency Services Partners. Our intent will be to provide updates each evening until we have a clear understanding of the path of "Florence". Our area is already saturated with water so obviously our main concerns will be coastal flooding and down trees. As we get updated briefings, we will pass those along as quickly as possible.

This weekend also marks the return of "Bike Week:". Plans are already in place for extra personnel for the Bike Week events and the Town of Ocean City will be coordinating with the organizers on any change of plans or cancellations that may take place. As we receive information we will pass that on as well.

On Tuesday, we will all take a moment and remember September 11,2001 and reflect.

We certainly encourage you to prepare for this weekends weather event and have linked the following information from the National Weather Service. Fingers are crossed that we get lucky and miss the brunt of this storm.
