It was an honor and a privilege when I was asked by Sheriff Charles Martin to return to my post in January of 2010, due to his illness. Upon the requests of many Republicans, Democrats and Independents who were aware of my previous track record, I was further honored and made the decision to continue and serve the communities in this County as I have done these last 38 years. I truly care about the people of this County where I have lived all my life, and I care about each one of my Deputies. I am also proud of my endorsement for Sheriff by area Chief's of Police, Mayor and City Council's, Civil / Fraternal Organizations and businesses within Worcester County.

I am a lifetime resident of Worcester County. I proudly served my Country as a United States Marine, serving two tours in Vietnam from 1965-1969. During my time in Vietnam I received the Presidential Citation, Vietnam Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, National Defense Citation, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Promotion, 3 Vietnam Service Ribbons and two Commanding General Citations. I received an Honorable Discharge at the rank of Sergeant. I worked for the Ocean City Police Department from 1970-1979 as a Detective, Corporal, K-9 Corps Commander and Instructor, Sergeant., and Acting Lieutenant. I served as a Deputy / K-9 Officer with the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office from 1979-1984. I am a graduate of both the National Sheriff’s Institute and FBI National Academy Class U11. I am also a graduate of two Maryland Executive Schools and a graduate of the Fire Police Instant Command School. I have attended over one hundred other miscellaneous schools and in-service courses, many of which focused on management and budget issues within Law Enforcement. In 1984, I was then appointed Chief Deputy, serving under two Sheriffs until my retirement in 2007.

I have most recently been backed endorsed by both Fraternal Order of Police Lodge memberships here in Worcester County. The Worcester County F.O.P., Lodge 50, as well as the Ocean City Police Departments, Lodge 10, both endorsed me as the next Sheriff of Worcester County. These important endorsements and backing of two strong and highly respected organizations make me proud and very humble as their memberships consist of strictly law enforcement and police officers here in Worcester County. Having the F.O.P. and police "VOTE OF CONFIDENCE" means the world to me because my track record has earned their confidence and respect in me as their next choice for Sheriff in Worcester County. The memberships of both F.O.P. Lodge's 50 and 10 consist mainly of a younger generation of Deputy Sheriff's and police officers and a combination of experienced veteran officers. It further humbles me to have the respect, vote and confidence of the younger and upcoming generation of law enforcement officers.

My mission and dedication is to continue to serve the citizens of Worcester County to keep our children and families safe. The citizens are the eyes and ears of every community and I always welcome open lines of communication between the citizens and the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office. I am a true believer in giving back to the Community in which I serve. I will be accessible to the public for any needs or concerns that they may have. We need to work together to make Worcester County a safe place to work, live and raise our children. The Sheriff’s Departments success depends on the citizens of this county.

I would appreciate the opportunity to continue to build on the strong foundation our Sheriff’s Department has earned within the Community. I also wish to maintain the excellent working relationships we have worked hard to establish with all other Law Enforcement Agencies in Maryland and surrounding States. This strong relationship and credibility can only be achieved through honesty, integrity, experience and trust.

I am dedicated to keep the honesty, integrity and trust of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office intact. I will strive to make the Worcester County Sheriff's Office the best in the State.
